Our take on The Backrooms: Descent
Rather than treating horror as a solitary experience, the game places up to four researchers in the same labyrinth and links communication to proximity. Its central structure combines group exploration, evidence gathering, and escape-seeking with threats from entities inside the Backrooms.
What is The Backrooms: Descent?
The Backrooms: Descent is a cooperative horror game for 1–4 players.
Players take the role of a newly hired researcher sent into the Backrooms to locate teams that disappeared during earlier expeditions. Progress involves descending through vast, labyrinthine levels, investigating evidence left by previous researchers, and searching for a way out. Potentially hostile entities inhabit the environment, creating threats during exploration. Players can host or join a session with friends, using proximity voice chat while moving through the game together. Each level presents its own interpretation of Backrooms lore and uses rooms, corridors, and persistent buzzing to establish the setting.
