AdventureIs Guillotine worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Groups of 4–18 friends who enjoy trying to identify a hidden threat through discussion and voting
- Players who prefer social deduction mixed with resource gathering and survival pressure
- Groups that want proximity voice chat as part of their multiplayer sessions
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a broad range of round structures may find the repeated gather, discuss, and vote cycle narrow.
- Players who prefer survival play without a social deduction vote may find the human-versus-necromorph setup restrictive.
- Solo players, since play is described for groups of 4–18.
Our take on Guillotine
The game’s focus on group suspicion and voting comes at the expense of a solo experience: its stated play range starts at 4 players. Its round structure also centers on the same three-stage cycle, rather than a variety of modes.
What is Guillotine?
Guillotine is a multiplayer social deduction and survival game for 4–18 players.
Players begin in a tavern in the woods, where one player is a necromorph that needs to kill to satisfy its hunger. Humans search the forest for food and materials, while the necromorph hunts them. Each round has three phases: players gather resources, return to the tavern as the fog rises to craft equipment and talk, then vote on someone to be guillotined. Proximity voice chat lets players speak near one another, including while exploring or at the piano. Humans can also place collected materials on a zeppelin’s call table; when the required materials are deposited, it comes to the tavern tower, and humans who board it escape.
How Guillotine plays
- 01Three-phase rounds
- Players move from forest scavenging to a tavern discussion and crafting period, then choose someone for execution by vote.
- 02Proximity voice chat
- Players can call out to nearby others while moving through the forest or gather around the tavern piano.
- 03Zeppelin escape
- Humans can supply materials at a call table to bring the airship to the tavern tower and escape aboard.
