We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Typing beginners who want short, game-based practice
- Experienced typists who want to pursue records across different modes
- Players who prefer quick rounds with changing letter and word prompts
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Users seeking typing lessons with explanations or a structured curriculum may hit a wall when the game moves directly into timed prompts.
- Players who dislike penalty-driven rounds may find the one-minute modes frustrating when missed or incorrect entries reduce their remaining time.
- People looking for a typing tool focused on documents or workplace tasks may find its scope limited to game modes.
Our take on TEXT
The clearest bounce point is the timed Quick Draw and Words play: missed letters or wrong entries cost time, so players who need a forgiving practice pace may stop there. The game also centers on typing prompts rather than lessons or document work.
What is TEXT?
TEXT is a keyboard typing simulator with nine modes grouped into three categories.
In Scroll modes, letters move across the screen, rise from the bottom, or fall and bounce; type them before they leave the screen. Quick Draw modes ask for letters as they appear, with a one-minute limit and a time penalty for misses. Words modes give a one-minute limit to type complete words, with wrong letters also adding a time penalty. The modes vary how prompts appear and how answers are entered: letters can arrive one at a time, in groups, or across the screen with only a highlighted letter active. Word prompts can be spelled forwards, backwards, or in random order.
How TEXT plays
- 01Three letter patterns
- Scroll modes move letters horizontally, upward, or in a falling-and-bouncing pattern.
- 02Timed typing rounds
- Quick Draw and Words rounds last one minute, and mistakes incur a time penalty.
- 03Varied word entry
- Word prompts can be entered from left to right, from right to left, or in random order.
