Our take on Tengami
The pop-up-book structure gives the adventure a focused visual and interaction style, but limits its range to manipulating paper-like environments, solving puzzles, and following a quiet, atmospheric journey.
What is Tengami?
Tengami is an atmospheric adventure game set within a Japanese pop-up book.
Players fold, flip, and slide parts of the paper world to solve puzzles and reveal secrets. The journey moves through dark forests, abandoned shrines, and tranquil mountain waterfalls while following the mystery of a lone dying cherry tree. Its setting draws on ancient Japanese fairy tales and uses a three-dimensional folding-book structure. An original soundtrack by David Wise accompanies the adventure, and headphones are recommended. The game’s world uses an approach intended to make every visible element reproducible with paper, scissors, and glue.
