Our take on Technocide
The pitch stresses tactical freedom and multiple ways to handle encounters, while the central pressure is protecting a mothership whose damage persists. That makes the repair-versus-equipment choice consequential, and a failed defense can erase the run's progress.
What is Technocide?
Technocide is a vertical scrolling shooter focused on selecting weapons and abilities to stop enemies before they reach a mothership.
Enemies fire back, but the emphasis is on shooting them rather than dodging patterns of bullets. Runs use procedural generation for level choices, bonuses, and enemy groups. Damage to the mothership carries over, and its destruction sends the run back to the beginning. Repairing it means giving up cash or new equipment, creating a choice about how to spend limited resources.
Players can use weapons and gadgets in different ways to respond to encounters. Excess shots can break enemies into shrapnel that damages others, with style points for chained kills. Local co-op supports two players using controllers and keyboard, including shared keyboard play.
How Technocide plays
- 01Procedural runs
- Level choices, bonuses, and enemy combinations vary between attempts.
- 02Persistent mothership damage
- Damage remains during a run, and losing the ship restarts progress.
- 03Local two-player co-op
- A second player can join using controllers or a shared keyboard.
- 04Shrapnel chain kills
- Excess shots can turn defeated enemies into hazards that hit nearby foes.
