We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Open-world adventure players who want traversal, puzzles, and environmental exploration
- Players who enjoy experimenting with animal and object-based abilities
- Players interested in New Caledonian-inspired settings, traditional-language voices, and music-led worldbuilding
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking tightly directed levels may find the open-world structure too dispersed
- Players looking for combat-focused gameplay may find fighting shares space with traversal, music, puzzles, and discovery
- Players who prefer a narrowly focused adventure may not want the combination of exploration, secrets, cosmetics, and challenges
Our take on Tchia
The broad sandbox trades concentrated challenge for freedom of movement and experimentation. Combat is one activity among traversal, music, customization, puzzles, and discovery, so players seeking a combat-first structure may find the design less focused.
What is Tchia?
Tchia is an open-world adventure set across a tropical archipelago inspired by New Caledonia.
The game combines climbing, gliding, swimming, sailing, free exploration, puzzles, secrets, and encounters with enemies made from wood and fabric. Soul-jumping lets Tchia control more than 30 animals and hundreds of objects, including birds, fish, dogs, and environmental items. A playable ukulele supports rhythm sections, unlockable melodies, and events such as attracting animals or bringing rain. The story follows Tchia as she attempts to rescue her father from Meavora. Players can customize Tchia’s clothing and boat with unlockable cosmetics, collect tools, and tackle Totem Shrine challenges. Animated scenes, traditional-language voice acting, and an orchestral score with local sounds accompany the journey.
