SimulationIs Taxi worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want to manage a small transport business while driving fares themselves
- Simulation fans who enjoy balancing driver costs against the risk of vehicle damage
- Players who prefer short dispatch objectives across several city settings
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a deep management system beyond driver hiring, vehicle purchases and upgrades
- Players looking for a calm driving experience, since traffic hazards, crashes and passenger pressure shape fares
- Players who want a game focused on a single driving environment rather than three distinct city settings
Our take on Taxi
The mix of company management and driving asks players to divide attention between staffing decisions and road hazards. That focus leaves less room for either a detailed business simulation or a driving experience centered on open-ended exploration.
What is Taxi?
Run a cab firm across three 3D cities set in America, Europe and the U.
K. Start with an old taxi, pick up passengers and complete dispatch missions to earn money for vehicle upgrades and new cars. Hire drivers with different strengths and experience levels, weighing their hiring costs and risk of damaging a vehicle in a crash. Take fares yourself, navigating traffic, potholes, oil slicks and speed bumps while responding to passengers who may press for rule-breaking shortcuts. Each city has its own vehicles and driving side. The game also includes a day-and-night cycle, fog, rain, vehicle damage and penalties for poorly maintained cars.
How Taxi plays
- 01Driver hiring
- Drivers differ in their strengths, experience, hiring cost and likelihood of taking risks that can damage a vehicle.
- 02Vehicle upgrades
- Fare and mission earnings can go toward improving the starting cab or buying additional vehicles.
- 03Three city settings
- The American, European and U.K. locations have distinct cars and require driving on different sides of the road.
- 04Changing conditions
- Driving includes a day-and-night cycle, fog, rain, traffic, potholes, oil slicks and speed bumps.
- 05Vehicle upkeep
- Crashes dent taxis, while poor maintenance can lead to penalties.
