SimulationIs Take On Mars worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Mars exploration fans who want both robotic missions and a human survival campaign
- Simulation players who prefer resource processing and colony construction over short standalone sessions
- Online groups interested in cooperative survival systems and shared habitat building
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly directed experience may find the combination of campaigns, scenarios, and sandbox systems diffuse
- Players wanting fast, low-maintenance sessions may find resource gathering, construction, research, and survival management demanding
- Players looking only for a single-player campaign may not value the cooperative colony mode
Our take on Take On Mars
The defining structure is a progression from remote Mars operations to a stranded human mission and then cooperative colony building, connecting robotics, engineering, survival, and habitat management within one setting.
What is Take On Mars?
Take On Mars is a Mars exploration simulation with two campaign chapters and a multiplayer survival sandbox.
The robotics campaign has players command rovers, landers, and probes while collecting scientific data and researching equipment. The manned mission follows astronaut Mark Willis after a failed descent, requiring survival, engineering, and construction. In the sandbox, players can cooperate online to gather Martian materials, refine compounds, print habitat parts, establish power systems, pressurize living areas, grow crops, and operate vehicles.
Locations include Mars, Deimos, Earth orbit, the Moon, the International Space Station, and training sites. Terrain and weather draw on satellite data, while vehicle components can break and affect handling. Training missions, individual scenarios, an in-game Mars Encyclopedia, a 3D Editor, and Workbench modding tools are also included.
How Take On Mars plays
- 01Robotics Campaign
- Command remote vehicles and instruments while gathering Martian research data and unlocking equipment through technology research.
- 02Manned Mission Story
- Play as a stranded astronaut who uses mechanical engineering skills to survive and build machinery for a possible return.
- 03Colony Survival Sandbox
- Online cooperative play supports resource processing, habitat construction, power management, crop growth, and vehicle operation.
- 04Breakable Vehicle Systems
- Damage to cameras, robotic arms, struts, or wheels can change how vehicles handle.
- 05Scenario Creation Tools
- The 3D Editor and Workbench support custom scenarios, terrains, add-ons, and total modifications.
