Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a fixed, authored campaign may find the focus on adaptable tabletop sessions limiting.
- Those seeking a single self-contained game may find the experience depends on choosing or creating games within the tabletop platform.
- Players seeking cross-platform play between PC storefronts now, rather than a planned feature, may need another option.
Our take on Tabletop Playground
The open editor and community-mod model allow many kinds of tabletop games, but that flexibility puts the experience in the hands of game creators and session groups rather than a single fixed campaign.
What is Tabletop Playground?
Tabletop Playground is a digital space for playing tabletop games solo or online with up to 16 players.
Players can adjust rules, modify classic games, or make original games using an in-game editor with JavaScript scripting for complex rules and actions. Games can be shared through mod. io, and mods can be browsed or downloaded in the game, including before joining a session. Tools for war-gaming and other specialized games include formation setup, distance and angle measurement, movement and dice-roll history, and custom units. Sessions can be saved and resumed. The game supports PC and virtual reality, with and without motion controllers. Cross-platform play between PC storefronts is planned.
