Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly structured, mission-led campaign may find the free-roaming format a poor match.
- Players looking for a shooter focused on fighting human opponents may not find that focus here, as the description centers on dangerous animals.
- Players seeking a multiplayer shooter may prefer a game with explicitly described multiplayer play.
Our take on Straya
Rather than centering its shooter premise on combat with human opponents, Straya frames survival around dangerous wildlife in an open Australian setting. Roaming, jobs, hunting and gathering sit alongside shooting, with travel and resource activities shaping the structure.
What is Straya?
Straya is a first-person shooter set in Australia in the late 1960s.
Its open world centers on surviving dangerous animals on land, in the air and in the water. Players can roam freely, take on jobs, hunt and collect items. Travel is available on foot, horseback, by helicopter and by boat. Gather bush tucker to make elixirs, use a metal detector to search for valuables and avoid land mines, and pan for gold or fish in creeks and rivers. Completing jobs and finding locations grants access to special items. The game also draws on elements from Dreamtime stories.
