Our take on Stonemachia
Its defining mechanic is a pawn protagonist who changes into other chess pieces through armour transformations, turning chess roles into combat abilities during the journey.
What is Stonemachia?
Play as Zefiro, a pawn traveling through Medhelan, a bleak land affected by the Plague of Angels.
The journey combines action-adventure exploration with soulslike combat and a chess-based transformation system. Zefiro can take the forms of other chess pieces, with each armour transformation providing a distinct ability. Exploration leads through abandoned, shadowy regions populated by angelic forces, including enemies and objects drawing on Italian art and folklore. Combat also places special importance on the shield, which can affect the result of encounters. The story follows Zefiro’s attempt to uncover the mystery of the chess pieces and reach Heaven during a perilous journey through the ruined world.
