Our take on Steel Rain
The broad mix of combat, colonies, research, crafting, and stage creation comes at the cost of a focused shoot-'em-up structure. Players must divide attention between moment-to-moment firing and longer-term management systems rather than concentrating solely on arcade action.
What is Steel Rain?
Steel Rain combines fast shoot-'em-up combat with strategy and RPG systems.
Players control two combat wings, switch among three formations, and customize six firemodes while fighting enemy fleets. Missions span seven planets and include boss battles, randomly generated orbital patrols, and survival, campaign, and arcade modes. Between battles, players can liberate planets, establish and manage colonies, construct buildings, research technologies and skills, craft items, and equip upgrades across ten different wings. The game includes ten difficulty levels, a hardcore mode, leaderboards, rankings, more than 80 achievements, and a stage editor for creating, sharing, and downloading stages. Local two-player co-op allows another player to fight and command drones.
