Our take on SteamWorld Build
The combined town-and-mine structure gives the game variety, but it also divides attention between two management layers. Players seeking a highly focused city builder or a dedicated dungeon game may find neither side receives the full depth of a genre-specific title.
What is SteamWorld Build?
SteamWorld Build blends city construction with managing underground mines on a planet nearing its end.
Grow a Steambot town, balance supplies, and keep residents working as mining operations expand below the settlement. Explore handcrafted mine layouts, solve puzzles, collect treasures, and contend with dangers. Players can choose from four difficulty settings and five standard maps, plus six themed locations: Jingle Bolts, Dorado Quest, Mechanical Meadows, Crash Site, Steam Wave, and Skull Valley. The game takes place in the SteamWorld universe and features hand-drawn visuals and whimsical characters. Its goal is to find technology deep in the mines and use it to leave the planet.
