Our take on Starground
The bounce point arrives when the game shifts from manual resource work into layered factory development, research, and logistics. Players who want to stay in the dungeons may also stall when progress requires returning with materials, while factory-focused players must engage with combat for some rewards.
What is Starground?
Starground combines factory automation with top-down dungeon crawling.
On a home planet, gather and refine resources, research machines, and develop systems for resource collection and crafting. Progress can begin with manual mining and smelting before moving toward automated production. Outside the factory, travel through space to explore dungeons, battle enemies, avoid hazards, defeat bosses, and collect rewards. Dungeon resources can return to the factory, while rare loot can improve the character and support modular weapon crafting. The game supports single-player and cooperative multiplayer. Players can divide their time between production and combat, with either activity advancing the story.
How Starground plays
- 01Factory Automation
- A research tree introduces machines and production methods for gathering, refining, and crafting resources.
- 02Dungeon Exploration
- Space-based dungeons include enemies, environmental hazards, bosses, and loot that can feed back into factory development.
- 03Modular Weapons
- Rare dungeon rewards can be used to assemble weapons such as spears, dual-bladed swords, and guns with unusual configurations.
- 04Cooperative Multiplayer
- Friends can pursue shared objectives together or split factory and dungeon responsibilities across the game.
- 05Solo Play
- The full game can also be played alone without cooperative partners.
