Our take on StarDrive
StarDrive combines grand strategy with real-time ship encounters rather than separating those layers. Players can move from a wide strategic view into close combat, then switch between conventional fleet commands and direct control of individual vessels.
What is StarDrive?
StarDrive is a real-time 4X space strategy game that begins with one planet and a small number of space-capable vessels.
Players expand through the galaxy by conquering worlds, establishing colonies, terraforming planets, and developing specialized trade or industrial centers. Diplomacy, trade, espionage, research, and military force offer different ways to pursue galactic domination. The ship system uses modular construction, with the placement and composition of modules affecting vessel performance. Battles support fleet commands or direct arcade-style control of individual ships, with options such as launching fighters, laying mines, using shields, and moving in and out of combat. Players can create fleets, set engagement rules, deploy ground troops, and encounter random events, hidden treasures, space threats, and late-game dangers.
