- Players who prefer procedurally generated locations may not want a world built from hand-drawn environments.
Our take on Slice of Sea
Seaweed has legs but no arms, so progress through the world depends on moving the character with the keyboard and solving puzzles by interacting with the surroundings using the mouse.
What is Slice of Sea?
This adventure-puzzle game follows Seaweed, a sea creature wearing metal armor, across a barren land far from the ocean.
The route passes through dusty terrain and deserted buildings before reaching the coast. Seaweed has legs but no arms, so movement uses the keyboard while environmental interactions and puzzle solving use the mouse. All locations and creatures were drawn with ink on paper rather than generated procedurally. Ambient sound accompanies the journey, and Cat Jahnke wrote and performed the central musical theme.
How Slice of Sea plays
- 01Hand-drawn environments
- Locations and creatures are ink drawings on paper rather than procedurally generated content.
- 02Movement and interaction
- Keyboard input moves Seaweed, while mouse input handles interaction with the surroundings.
- 03Ambient soundtrack
- The ambient music is by Thumpmonks, and Cat Jahnke wrote and performed the main theme.
Slice of Sea compared to similar games
Jusant centers on climbing a tall tower, managing stamina, and choosing paths, while Slice of Sea has Seaweed traverse a dry landscape and solve puzzles through mouse interaction. Both combine exploration and puzzles, but their central movement mechanics differ.
