Our take on Sketch Tales
The drawing-based sandbox gives players broad control over objects and character direction, but that freedom trades away a tightly authored progression path. The game’s Early Access status also means some planned systems, including multiplayer and a larger living world, are not part of the current feature set.
What is Sketch Tales?
Sketch Tales is a sandbox action RPG set in a hand-drawn world whose colors were taken by a warlock.
Drawing creates items, weapons, spells, building parts, and living beings that appear in the game. A drawn monster can become active within seconds. The game combines quests, dungeons, loot, weapons, traps, enemies, and magical anomalies with a non-linear story. Players can pursue revenge against the warlock, join him, or ignore him, while shaping a character through their choices. It is in Early Access. Planned updates include shared worlds, multiplayer exploration and combat, exchanging creations, a larger open world with random events, simulated NPC behavior, destructible objects, and cross-platform sessions.
How Sketch Tales plays

- Artwork can become equipment, spells, construction components, creatures, and other in-game objects.
- 02Non-Linear Story
- The warlock storyline allows players to oppose him, join him, or leave the conflict aside.
- 03Action RPG Systems
- Quests, dungeons, loot, weapons, enemies, traps, and magical anomalies structure the gameplay.
- 04Character Creation
- Drawing and player choices shape a custom character and its possible path.
