Is Simulakros worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action players who want third-person shooting across changing levels
- Roguelite fans who enjoy runs with randomized environments
- Players who like choosing among ranged, mixed-range, and close-range combat styles
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who prefer a fixed level sequence may bounce off the randomized layouts
- Players seeking a consistent loadout may find that gathered power-ups and upgrades change the unit’s playstyle during a run
- Players looking for multiplayer shooting may not find the described unit-based combat structure suitable
Our take on Simulakros
The bounce point comes with the run structure: levels change between attempts, and gathered power-ups and upgrades can shift a unit’s playstyle. Players who want a fixed sequence of stages or a stable setup may hit that mismatch as soon as those changing runs become central.
What is Simulakros?
Simulakros is a third-person shooter set in a futuristic world where the CORP develops combat androids.
The player and a hacker aim to disrupt its plans by turning the androids against the corporation. Runs take place in randomized levels built from handcrafted sections, so the environment changes between attempts. Three playable units offer different styles: Sharpshooter uses precision rifles and time-manipulation abilities, Barrage carries a short-range SMG and long-range pistol, and Rupture uses a shotgun, grenades, and teleportation. Random power-ups and upgrades gathered during a run can change a unit’s playstyle and abilities. Chips found in CORP facilities provide permanent improvements, and experience from each run allows more chips to be equipped.
How Simulakros plays
- 01Three Combat Units
- Sharpshooter, Barrage, and Rupture have distinct weapons, skills, and power-ups.
- 02Changing Level Layouts
- Randomized environments are assembled from handcrafted sections.
- 03Permanent Chip Progression
- Chips found in CORP facilities improve control of the units, and experience from runs allows additional chips to be equipped.
Simulakros compared to similar games
Abyssus also combines shooting with roguelite runs and describes multiplayer action in handcrafted levels. Simulakros instead centers on three selectable combat androids, randomized facilities, and permanent chip progression. Hentai Vs Furries describes a TPS with quests, skins, emotes, and several camera angles; its description does not specify the randomized level and chip systems found in Simulakros.
