Rather than relying on a fixed dungeon route, the game reshuffles layouts, rooms, items, traps, and enemies between runs. Its six heroes also branch into subclasses and later abilities, varying both the dungeon and character development across repeated crawls.
What is Shattered Pixel Dungeon?
Shattered Pixel Dungeon sends players on repeated expeditions through a dungeon whose contents change from run to run.
Six heroes offer different mechanics, while progression includes talent spending, subclass choices, and late-game abilities. Procedural generation changes floor plans, rooms, loot, traps, and foes each time. Equipment and consumables can be found or crafted, and equipment can be enchanted, upgraded, or augmented. The character faces hazards, enemies, and bosses across five regions and 26 floors. The game also includes optional challenges and achievements. It receives new content, fixes, and improvements roughly every three months.
