Is Septerra Core worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Fantasy RPG players who want a party-based story with distinct character backgrounds
- Players who prefer exploring large, multi-area worlds with more than 200 locations
- RPG fans interested in combat that combines turn-based and real-time elements
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a narrowly focused adventure may find the seven-continent setting and more than 200 locations too broad
- Players who prefer a single combat format may not enjoy the mixture of turn-based and real-time systems
- Players looking for a simple story may find the setting's prophecy, war, and intrigue too involved
Our take on Septerra Core
Its defining detail is a combat system that combines turn-based and real-time elements, giving battles a mixed structure instead of following one format.
What is Septerra Core?
Septerra Core is a fantasy role-playing game set on seven orbiting continents, arranged at different heights around a vast computer called the Core.
Maya, a young Junker, is swept into a crisis after the Chosen trigger a disaster that endangers Septerra’s inhabitants. She faces war and political schemes as she tries to fulfill an old prophecy, unsure whom to trust. Players assemble a group of as many as nine characters, with individual skills, histories, and reasons for joining. The world contains over 200 places to explore, from unusual terrain to mysterious structures and hazards. Battles mix turn-based strategy with real-time action. An adventure-game-style interface lets players interact with the surroundings, while professional performers voice hundreds of lines.
