Our take on SENSEs: Midnight
The classic survival horror structure creates tension through restricted saving, limited inventory space, and pursuit rather than constant combat. That focus sacrifices convenience: route planning and repeated traversal become part of managing items, puzzles, and encounters in the park.
What is SENSEs: Midnight?
Follow occult researcher Uesugi Kaho as she examines the Midnight Door in an empty Ikebukuro Walking Park.
Classic survival-horror conventions shape the experience, including static viewpoints and tank-style movement. Clues embedded in the surroundings expose the park’s history, while solving certain puzzles may draw hostile spirits toward Kaho. A small inventory requires careful item planning and can determine whether backtracking is necessary. Concealment spots offer brief respite from the pursuing Onryo. Progress can be recorded at only one secure point. SENSEs: Midnight is a fully three-dimensional survival-horror title and the opening installment in an anthology sequel series connected to Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story.
