Our take on Salt 2: Shores of Gold
Pirate adventures often foreground ship-to-ship combat; Salt 2 instead centers on solo and cooperative PvE, with the ship serving as a traveling home base. Exploration, quests, crafting, and survival take the place of naval battles.
What is Salt 2: Shores of Gold?
Salt 2 is a pirate-themed open-world adventure centered on exploration, crafting, survival, and RPG progression.
After waking on an island, players gather resources to build a raft and sail across a procedurally generated ocean, alone or with up to 5 friends. A ship serves as a mobile home base, where players can craft, cook, fish, and place over 100 decorations. Islands contain hand-crafted points of interest, including more than 200 dungeons, along with towns, quests, enemies, puzzles, and loot. Players can follow the main story or take guild quests, hunt and fish for food, craft weapons and armor, and level up to unlock skills, recipes, and world tiers. The game focuses on solo and cooperative PvE rather than naval combat.
