Saves you a refund- Players seeking a simple movement system may find the grapple's physics difficult to learn
- Players wanting a strictly linear route may not enjoy open-ended traversal across the wasteland
- Players looking for a purely combat-focused game may not want the exploration, conversations, and story elements
- Players who do not want to create or play user-made stages may not use the level editor and Workshop features
Our take on Rusted Moss
The defining mechanic is an elastic grapple that turns the character’s momentum into movement, allowing swinging traversal without a predetermined route.
What is Rusted Moss?
Rusted Moss combines twin-stick shooting with metroidvania exploration across a fallen human wasteland.
A physics-driven elastic grapple uses momentum for swinging, traversal, and movement through areas without a fixed route. Combat uses 360-degree aiming, weapon switching, and encounters with witches, machines, and bosses with distinct challenges. Exploration includes 20+ abilities, 8 weapons, lost shrines, abandoned computer stations, and conversations with humans and fae folk. The story follows Fern, a changeling traveling with the shadow Puck as the fae return to the world. Multiple endings shape the journey. A level editor supports custom stage creation, while Steam Workshop allows players to upload and play community-made levels.
