We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action-platformer fans who want repeated runs with changing layouts
- Players who enjoy combat built around jumps, chained combos, and boss fights
- Roguelite players who want unlockable characters and talents
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed, story-led platforming route may find the changing runs and permadeath restrictive
- Players who prefer relaxed pacing may not suit the constant combat, traps, and upward climb
- Players looking for a broad metroidvania structure may prefer a game with more exploration scope
Our take on Rising Hell
The defining structure is an upward escape through procedurally changing hell, where each attempt combines platforming, combat, unlocks, and permadeath into a single climb.
What is Rising Hell?
Rising Hell is a vertical platformer with rogue-lite structure, set in a changing version of hell.
Players climb upward while fighting demons, bosses, and living traps, using chained attacks and jumping maneuvers to progress. Each run takes place in a randomly generated landscape, with permadeath adding a persistent risk. Campaign and challenge modes offer different ways to play, with leaderboards included in both. Defeating enemies and advancing unlocks characters and talents, allowing different playstyles and strategies. The game includes areas such as Beelzebub’s Lair, along with other hellish locations containing distinct creatures and hazards. Pixel art and heavy gothic metal accompany the action.
