Our take on Recruits
Permanent death defines the campaign: soldiers who fall in battle are lost, so each squad carries lasting consequences into the platoon’s progression.
What is Recruits?
Command a platoon in a top-down war shooter, sending one squad into each mission.
Objectives include eliminating enemies, destroying buildings, covert operations, and survival scenarios. Soldiers gain experience, ranks, attributes, nicknames, and customizable equipment as they serve. Defeat removes soldiers permanently, while respect points can open stronger weapons and abilities such as airstrikes and cluster bombs. A right-click menu provides basic squad orders in single-player missions. The game also includes online death match and team death match, plus missions built around controllable helicopters and tanks. Weather, destruction, physics, lighting changes, dismemberment, and gore are part of the current gameplay. Recruits is in alpha and is still being developed, with bugs and issues noted by the vendor.
