Our take on Rayless
The description gives space to settlement development, crafting, environmental encounters, and tactical combat, but does not explain how these activities are balanced across the campaign. It establishes the premise and systems without detailing the scope of missions or territory expansion.
What is Rayless?
Rayless is a tactical, turn-based RPG set in an alternative medieval fantasy world after a contagious virus turns creatures into monsters.
As leader of a small human settlement, the player develops the town and sends squads to reclaim lost territory. Up to five recruited characters can have customized abilities and items while moving across the map, gathering resources, and fighting. Combat strategies account for monster strengths, weaknesses, and habitats. Three environments—deserts, woodland, and caves—feature different monster species influenced by sounds, resources, weather, time of day, and lighting. Settlement development includes workshops, warrior training areas, expanded storage, and medicinal or poisonous plants. Characters gain experience in combat, can craft items in the workshop, and have morale levels that affect fighting skills.
