Rat Simulator puts the player in the role of a rat living in a suburban neighborhood.
The main objectives involve infecting 9 houses with plague while avoiding residents and pestmen who try to stop the rat. Players can steal food, damage household items, scatter objects, and use poison to temporarily bring humans down. Trapped rats can be rescued and called on to infect additional houses. Experience gained during play can be used to select upgrades for the rat’s abilities. The game also includes encounters with the pestman leader, whose defeat allows the rat to claim the neighborhood as territory. Its gameplay combines stealth, survival, destruction, plague spreading, and role-playing elements.
