Our take on Potions: A Curious Tale
The defining mechanic is conflict resolution through brewed potions: opponents may be tricked, charmed, or scared, while the environment and other monsters can also be used against enemies.
What is Potions: A Curious Tale?
Play as Luna, a young witch who gathers ingredients and brews potions to overcome obstacles in enchanted lands.
Conflicts can be resolved by tricking, charming, or frightening opponents into dropping resources, rather than relying only on direct attacks. Luna can also use the environment and other monsters to defeat enemies. Resource management matters because some monsters can shrug off attacks, leaving Luna without elixirs when she needs them. The game includes puzzles, mysteries, folklore characters, and guidance from Luna’s grandmother and cat familiar, Helios. Ingredients are found through experimentation and discovery across 7 biomes. More than 100 potions can be crafted from different elemental combinations as Luna works toward becoming a potions master.
