ActionIs Pentacore worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Metroidvania fans who want platforming and exploration across a large map.
- Players who enjoy finding upgrades and using them to expand a weapon arsenal.
- Speedrun enthusiasts who want an in-game timer alongside a secret ending to unlock.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly guided route may find the map's room-by-room discovery and unexplained markers leave navigation to them.
- Players who prefer a short, linear experience may not enjoy searching a large world for five key cards and optional discoveries.
- Players looking for multiplayer play are not the audience for this single-player-focused description.
Our take on Pentacore
The open-ended map makes exploration central, but its markers do not explain their meanings. That trades clear navigation cues for player-led interpretation, so finding the route and key locations requires attention to the discovered map.
What is Pentacore?
Pentacore is a metroidvania centered on platforming and exploration.
Players run, shoot, climb, and use blasts to travel through a large planet, where they must find five key cards to start an escape ship. The story casts the player as security for a scientific expedition, awakened from stasis after the federation discovers a resource-rich planet. Enemies and upgrades are scattered through the world; collected upgrades expand the player's arsenal. A map reveals rooms as they are discovered, with markers for important locations that players must interpret. An in-game timer supports speedrun attempts, and the game includes an unlockable secret ending. Play is supported with either keyboard or controller.
