Our take on Peaks of Yore
The calm mountain setting and picturesque presentation sit alongside a demanding trial-and-error structure. Progress depends on repeated climbs, route learning, and recovering from falls, while the optional challenge modes and level editor add systems beyond the central ascent loop.
What is Peaks of Yore?
Climb peaks across The Great Gales in a first-person physics-based adventure set in 1887.
Progress involves scaling rock faces, crossing difficult routes, learning how different holds behave, and repeating attempts after falls. Each mountain offers new obstacles and paths to explore. Mountaineers provide company, while a cabin serves as a base that can be decorated with collected trinkets. New climbing equipment becomes available during the journey. The game includes two unlockable modes, You Fall You Die and Free Solo. A level editor supports creating and playing custom stages, with Steam Workshop integration. The presentation combines a 19th-century-inspired visual style with an optional Colorful Mode.

Jusant also centers on climbing, but frames it as a meditative journey up a tall tower with exploration, multiple paths, and secrets from an earlier civilization.
