Our take on P0
Rather than treating combat as a test of speed and agility, the game makes enemy states, room resets, and positioning part of the puzzle. Its hospital setting also replaces a conventional action-adventure journey with a confined descent through labyrinths and experiments.
What is P0?
P0 is an experimental action-adventure game set in a hospital that appears peaceful but contains a dark story, large labyrinths, puzzles, obstacles, hostilities, and hundreds of challenges.
Its combat system focuses on accuracy, understanding mechanics, and finding solutions rather than fast reactions or agility. Most enemies must be defeated before leaving a room, but they must be exited before they fully collapse; attacks can reset their falling process. Enemy remains persist between visits until reset, making their positions relevant. Rooms can be restarted or revisited through jumps, and Action Simulator[N] sections introduce special mechanics. A walkthrough is provided for players who get stuck, though it may still be difficult.
How P0 plays
- 01Room-Based Combat
- Enemies usually need to be defeated before the room can be left, while their collapse state creates an additional timing condition.
- 02Persistent Enemy Remains
- Defeated enemies can leave remains in place across visits until a reset changes the room.
- 03Restart And Backtrack
- The current room can be restarted, and earlier locations can be reached again at any time.
- 04Mechanic Training Areas
- Action Simulator[N] sections teach the use of newly acquired mechanics.
- 05Labyrinthine Challenges
- The hospital contains large labyrinths with puzzles, obstacles, hostilities, and hundreds of challenges.
P0 compared to similar games
Jusant centers on climbing, stamina management, exploration, and uncovering the history of a tower, while P0 focuses on room-based combat, puzzles, enemy states, and labyrinths. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is a chaotic metroidvania, whereas P0 uses experimental mechanics, room resets, and solution-focused encounters.
