Is Red Trigger worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Puzzle players who want a first-person shooter built around environmental manipulation
- Fans of Portal-style spatial challenges who prefer a short standalone experience
- Players who enjoy solving rooms under a strict three-block constraint
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a long campaign may find the approximately 40-minute to 1-hour-plus runtime brief
- Players who prefer unrestricted puzzle resources may dislike managing only three expanded blocks at a time
- Players looking for character-focused storytelling may find the computer-virus premise more mechanical than narrative
Our take on Red Trigger
The defining constraint is that only three red blocks can be expanded at once, making limited active blocks central to movement, hazards, and puzzle solutions.
What is Red Trigger?
Red Trigger is a first-person puzzle shooter in which the player controls a computer virus infiltrating a computer system.
A gun expands red blocks when fired and retracts them when fired again. Only three blocks can be expanded at once, making energy management part of progression. The blocks can create platforms, block lasers, hold doors open, power systems, propel the player, and input codes. They can be retracted individually or all at once, which can create hazards when the player stands on an extended block above a void. The game includes an escape sequence as the system crumbles and lasts about 40 minutes to 1 hour or more, depending on the player.
