Our take on P.U.R.G.A.T.O.R.Y
Rather than sending players through a conventional adventure plot, the game turns the afterlife into a repeated judgment task. Its central convention is not heroic progression but deciding the fate of incoming souls, with absurd punishments and facility disruptions replacing standard encounters.
What is P.U.R.G.A.T.O.R.Y?
P.
U. R. G. A. T. O. R. Y is a dark comedy sandbox game about processing souls after death. Incoming characters are judged and assigned to heaven, hell, or a grinder. Hundreds of possible souls can appear, including distinctive figures and unpleasant personalities. Grinding souls produces a resource for abilities used during play, such as disease effects, supernatural attacks, and other grisly interventions. Random events can alter the facility, including lightning strikes, extreme cold, bats sending souls to hell, mouse-driven kicks, and dissolving weather. The game includes achievements and mod support, allowing custom characters such as family and friends to be added. Its setting and humor focus on grotesque consequences and imperfect judgment.
