Our take on Otherwar
The hybrid structure divides attention between placing defenses and piloting the angel. That gives battles two active layers, but it also means players cannot rely on tower placement alone to manage each encounter.
What is Otherwar?
Otherwar combines tower defense with bullet-hell combat in a pixel-art setting.
Players defend the Gate of Heaven by placing and managing fortifications, then control a defender angel who can attack enemies directly above the battlefield. Enemy types use different projectile patterns, including pursuing eyeballs, spreading webs, swirling leaves and attacks from necromancers that can raise skeletons if left active. Before each mission, players choose towers and skills, including offensive structures, slowing fields and defenses that destroy incoming projectiles. The angel can improve skills during battles and gain new abilities between missions. The game presents 9 levels, each requiring a different arrangement of defenses and abilities.
How Otherwar plays
- 01Combined Defense Combat
- Fortifications handle battlefield defense while the angel attacks enemies directly.
- 02Varied Projectile Patterns
- Enemies use distinct attacks such as pursuing eyeballs, expanding webs and swirling leaves.
- 03Mission Loadouts
- Towers and skills are selected before each mission, including slowing fields and projectile-destroying emplacements.
- 04Angel Progression
- The angel can improve skills during battles and gain additional abilities between missions.
- 05Nine-Level Structure
- The campaign contains 9 levels built around different defensive arrangements and ability choices.
