Our take on Son of a Gun
Rather than centering on one weapon or a fixed combat approach, the game lets players choose among 7 weapon classes and several grenade types. Its campaign also mixes combat with objectives such as opening gates and downloading data, alongside a time-bending device.
What is Son of a Gun?
Son of a Gun is a top-down twin-stick shooter about an interplanetary mercenary sent to fight enemies on distant planets.
Select one of 6 characters and progress through a single-player campaign, upgrading the chosen mercenary along the way. Weapons span 7 classes, including pistols, shotguns, rifles, plasma guns, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers; grenades come in several types. Combat encounters include more than 20 enemy types and 8 bosses with distinct mechanics. Planetary areas have different environments and objectives, such as reaching a target, opening base gates, downloading data, or surviving an attack. A time-bending device offers another option against large enemy groups, while explosive barrels and environmental hazards can also be used in combat.
