StrategyIs Okhlos: Omega worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players drawn to Greek mythology who want to lead a crowd against gods and monsters.
- Strategy players who enjoy balancing a group made up of different follower types.
- Players interested in campaigns with changing mobs, heroes, enemies and bosses.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed campaign layout may find the procedurally generated city routes less suited to that preference.
- Those looking for a small, tightly controlled party may not enjoy managing a large, unruly mob.
- Players seeking a standalone historical encyclopedia rather than an action-strategy game may find the included reference material secondary.
- Players looking specifically for a polished, finished prototype experience may not want experimental, half-developed concepts.
Our take on Okhlos: Omega
The central unit is an unruly mob assembled from warriors, peasants, enslaved people and livestock, with its composition balanced on the way to the gods.
What is Okhlos: Omega?
Okhlos: Omega is an action-strategy game about organizing an angry mob to fight the gods of mythological Greece.
Recruit warriors, peasants, slaves and beasts of burden, then balance the group as it battles soldiers, mythical creatures and temples. Special units can be unlocked, or followers can be exchanged for one of 100 legendary heroes, including Heracles, Leonidas, Pandora and Socrates. Campaigns vary their heroes, monsters, bosses and mobs. The journey crosses eight procedurally generated Greek cities, leading to boss battles against the Olympians. This edition also includes a digital encyclopedia focused on Okhlos and six experimental prototypes, featuring ideas such as local multiplayer, stealth and side-scrolling gameplay.
