Our take on Noreya: The Gold Project
The store page emphasizes that each run differs, but the central choice also removes access to parts of the world and limits access to the most powerful spells when balancing both sides. Exploring both allegiances is needed to see the full range of locations, abilities, secrets, and bonuses.
What is Noreya: The Gold Project?
Noreya: The Gold Project is a 2D pixel-art metroidvania set in the dark-fantasy city of Lemia.
Play as Kali, a fighter investigating the rise of the God of Gold, and choose allegiance to the Goddess of Light, the God of Gold, or neither. This choice changes available paths, abilities, areas, secrets, bonuses, and music across two persistent versions of the world. A skill tree contains over 50 abilities, while 12 bosses can be challenged in any order and more than 25 monster types have distinct gameplay. Exploration follows a nonlinear structure, with optional story details found through steles and several possible endings. The game combines platforming, combat, shifting environments, and a soundtrack that changes with allegiance.
