Our take on NOMAD
The permanent-death structure keeps each attempt focused on immediate shooting, chicken catching, and gold gathering, but it gives up the continuity of a conventional campaign. Character unlocks and customization remain, while the run itself ends with each death.
What is NOMAD?
NOMAD is a desert shoot-'em-up built around catching chickens while fighting local enemies.
Gold found during a run can be kept, but each attempt ends with the character's death. Enemies use behavior intended to test shooting skill rather than overwhelm the screen through sheer numbers. Runs also include perks and abilities, along with unlocks and character customization. The game uses low-resolution pixel artwork with procedural animation. Its structure centers on repeating attempts: catch as many chickens as possible, gather gold, use available abilities, and continue until the run ends.
How NOMAD plays
- 01Perma-death runs
- Each attempt ends permanently when the character succumbs, setting a limit on progress within a single run.
- 02Chicken hunting
- The central objective is to catch as many chickens as possible while moving through the sands.
- 03Gold collection
- Gold discovered during play belongs to the player after it is collected.
- 04Skill-based enemies
- Opponents are intended to challenge shooting skill without relying on large swarms of attackers.
- 05Perks and abilities
- Runs include a selection of perks and abilities that can be used as part of the character's setup.
- 06Character customization
- Unlockable options provide ways to alter the character over time.
