Our take on Nix Umbra
Its defining structure is an endless first-person horror run through a randomly generated forest, with permadeath turning every attempt into a separate survival ritual.
What is Nix Umbra?
Nix Umbra is an endless, slow-burning first-person horror game set in an enchanted forest.
Its woodland environments and threats are randomly generated, and permadeath makes each attempt a separate survival run. Players wield a shining sword, collect solar crystals, and find 11 magical power-ups, including shape-altering mushrooms, frogs, and fairies. Eight enemy types include fire ghosts, inverse-kinematic spiders, and flying witches. The game uses a monochrome psychedelic aesthetic, with spectral colors unlocked through collected crystals. Its occult mechanics include out-of-body experiences, pondering orbs, and rose gazing. Encounters do not use scripted jump scares. A global leaderboard records progress toward the astral realm.
