Our take on Nine Nights
The focus on tactical melee encounters gives combat a clear role in progression, but it leaves less room for non-combat activities. Players who want varied systems beyond fighting, upgrading, and equipment choices may find the design restrictive.
What is Nine Nights?
Nine Nights is a hardcore action-adventure game following Ci Lang, a killer pursued by the Jizo Organization.
The game centers on fighting through a dangerous world while uncovering the truth and pursuing revenge. Combat requires choosing attacks for different enemy situations: low strikes can pressure defenses, pick attacks can target enemies underground, and aerial attacks can reach taller foes. Players can draw enemies closer before using ultimate abilities and combine attacks in different ways. Rewards can be spent on combat-move upgrades, skill improvements, weapons, and usable items. Progress involves learning new combat abilities, overcoming obstacles, and surviving increasingly dangerous and unusual enemies.

Nine Nights compared to similar games
