Our take on Nightmare Frames
Rather than building its adventure around varied action or traversal challenges, the game confines play to inventory puzzles. Its investigation moves through film-industry settings and a haunted town before reaching Hell, with the tone growing darker along the way.
What is Nightmare Frames?
In this supernatural thriller, screenwriter Alan Goldberg searches for the unpublished final work of horror director Edward Keller, said to be the scariest film ever made.
Set in 1985, the story leads through Hollywood film companies and effects workshops, a haunted town called Serena, and Hell. The game is a point-and-click adventure focused solely on inventory puzzles. Its investigation grows darker as the story progresses, moving from ambient horror to graphic scenes in Hell. Players can explore more than 80 locations and interact with 50 characters. The soundtrack includes original music by synthwave musician Stefano Rossi. A diner in the game also features a radio program with licensed tracks by Heclysma, Decade Defector, Vincenzo Salvia, and Self Delusion.
