Nex Machina is a twin-stick arcade shooter set in a future where self-aware machines begin eliminating humanity.
Players fight through more than 100 challenging levels across six worlds, destroying robots, rescuing humans, and searching for hidden routes and stages. The game includes local cooperative multiplayer, friend and community leaderboards, player profiles, unlockable content, achievements, and a scoring system built around repeat play. Its competition centers on high scores, with a metagame supporting continued runs. The arcade structure draws on Robotron and Smash TV, while voxel-based destruction shapes the visual presentation. The game also uses signed distance field ray-tracing and morphing technology.
