Our take on Nekuia
The fixed jump paths create a precision challenge, but they also leave little room to correct a poorly timed launch. The game trades flexible movement for speed-focused mastery, with repeated attempts forming much of the play pattern.
What is Nekuia?
Nekuia is a solo 2D platformer built around speed, jumping, and exploration.
Jumps cannot be redirected after launch, with a double-jump available as a possible recovery. Players navigate level mazes, choose routes suited to their speed, avoid traps, and face guardians and bosses. Faster movement increases both strength and risk, while changing visual and sound intensity reflects the pace. The game uses physics-based die-and-retry play and includes speedrun-focused challenges. Each world includes ultimate levels that combine all of its stages for an extreme challenge. Players can record times across all levels and compete weekly on a temporary level through an online ranking.
How Nekuia plays
- 01Fixed jump trajectories
- Once a jump starts, its direction cannot be changed, although a second jump may recover some mistakes.
- 02Speed-based progression
- Moving faster increases the character's strength and risk while opening routes suited to higher speeds.
- 03Weekly competition
- A temporary level lets players compare their times through an online ranking.
- 04Combined world stages
- Ultimate levels bring together every stage from a world for an extreme challenge.
- 05Reactive presentation
- Visual and audio intensity changes according to movement speed.
Nekuia compared to similar games
Nekuia focuses on solo 2D platforming, fixed jump trajectories, speedrun times, and weekly ranked levels. SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER is also a runner with jumping, but adds shooting and combat against enemies, while Nekuia centers on route-finding, traps, bosses, and speed-based movement.
