What is Near Death?
After a plane crash in Antarctica, a stranded survivor explores Sutro Station, an abandoned research base buried in polar darkness and extreme cold.
The goal is to find a way home while managing conditions that can cause freezing within minutes. Exploration involves laying light trails through low visibility, melting frozen barriers, gathering supplies, and creating warm areas with a personal heater. Weather changes through snow, wind, temperature, and lighting, producing whiteouts and short periods of calm. A room-by-room temperature simulation responds to exposure, building layouts, the station’s power system, and repairs that establish safer areas. Blueprints and upgrades expand available capabilities during the search.
