- Players wanting realistic settings may lose interest as the chapters move from straightforward spaces toward increasingly surreal environments.
- Players looking for branching systems or open-ended simulation may find the chapter-by-chapter narrative structure too narrow.

Our take on Murder Diaries
Players expecting a conventional mystery-solving structure may bounce off when progress begins with free flight and memory-fragment collection. A later sticking point arrives as the environments become increasingly abstract while the story remains the main focus.
What is Murder Diaries?
Murder Diaries follows a young man's life and thoughts through an abstract murder mystery.
Players control a small, ghost-like being that flies freely through surreal environments while searching for memory fragments. Collecting each fragment advances the narration and causes a nearby book to open, releasing words connected to the story. The surroundings also change to reflect events and ideas from the boy's experiences. Early chapters use more straightforward spaces, while later areas become increasingly abstract.
Each level forms a chapter with its own theme and story turn. Completing a chapter requires collecting all of its memory fragments and finishing that level's narration. The game contains 16 chapters, with calm exploration and mysterious background music contrasting with the blood and murder in the story.
