Our take on Moth Planet
The investigative premise suggests a journalism-focused mystery, but the store emphasis is mainly on movement, camera interactions, interviews, hazards, and speedrun completion targets. The depth of the reporting system and the complexity of the underlying mystery are not central to the presentation.
What is Moth Planet?
Play as Robin, a journalist investigating mysterious ruins in the village of Lycosina.
Move through an interconnected 2D platforming world by jumping, flying, bouncing, and accelerating through hazards. A camera lets Robin photograph moths and collect their statements, which can include personal accounts, reports about recent events, and clues about the ruins. The camera flash also activates switches and reveals secrets. Four connected regions contain different dangers, including Stalker Plants in the Forest and toxic Mushroom Spores in the Caves. Speedrun Mode offers Any% and 100% options: the first prioritizes reaching the ending with minimal interviews, while the second requires interviewing every moth and finding every secret.
