Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a fast, combat-focused experience may find the sit-and-survive structure too restrained

- Players who do not want microphone interaction or voiced scenes may not suit either available play mode
Our take on Midnight Evil
The defining detail is its voice-based reading premise: progress through the sinister book can involve speaking into a microphone, with a voiced alternative for other players.
What is Midnight Evil?
Midnight Evil is a story-driven horror game with a sit-and-survive structure.
A mysterious book leads into a nightmare involving ancient beings, and escaping requires finishing the reading. Players can choose Narrate Mode, which uses a microphone, or Listen Mode, which provides fully voiced scenes without microphone use on other Windows operating systems. The game also includes Otori, a virtual operating system and game console containing unlockable games and applications. Its setting combines spooky horror with comedic relief and a self-absorbed character named Nick Gloom. Steam Achievements are included. Microphone play requires English (United States) speech settings and enabled Windows microphone permissions.
