Our take on Meiji Tokyo Renka Full Moon
Players who need frequent mechanical interaction may hit the wall when the game settles into its text-adventure format. The main progression comes through Mei’s conversations, relationships, and supernatural premise rather than combat or traversal, so action-focused players may leave at that point.
What is Meiji Tokyo Renka Full Moon?
Mei Ayatsuki, an ordinary high-school student, is transported to Meiji-era Tokyo after meeting Charlie, a self-proclaimed magician, beneath a red full moon.
Guided to the Rokumeikan, she encounters historical figures including Ougai Mori, Kyoka Izumi, Yakumo Koizumi, and Tosuke Iwasaki. Mei discovers that she is a Tamayori, a person with the ability to see Mononoke, supernatural beings recognized in this version of Tokyo. Her ability affects her relationships as she spends daily life with the men she meets.
This otome text adventure follows romantic developments and the question of whether Mei can return to her own time. The Steam release adds Tosuke Iwasaki’s route and a newly written bonus scenario. Text is available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, with Japanese voice acting.
