Our take on Maritime Calling
Instead of treating the sea as a backdrop between destinations, the game makes ship handling and crew upkeep central to the voyage. Island exploration shifts to text-based events, while naval fights use real-time positioning and maneuvering.
What is Maritime Calling?
Maritime Calling is a seafaring survival RPG about captaining a ship on a voyage to the New World.
Set the ship’s course, handle its sails and rigging, and adjust to changing winds while navigating generated seas. The crew needs assigned duties, provisions, morale management, and hull repairs as the voyage brings storms, reefs, shoals, enemy ships, hunger, fatigue, and fear. Naval combat takes place in real time, with positioning and maneuvering shaping encounters. On islands, text-based expeditions send sailors to collect resources, investigate mysteries, and face dangers; outcomes depend in part on crew skills and choices. Voyages also involve developing sailors and upgrading the ship, while mistakes can end an expedition permanently.
