Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking action-focused combat, since the described play centers on exploration and puzzles
- Players looking for a large, freely traversable city, since the central play space is one district represented by a theater stage
Our take on Marginal act
The theater-stage system gives the district a compact, directional structure, but that focus limits the described play to a single neighborhood rather than a wider city. The puzzles hinge on building states and stage arrangements, so players seeking a broader range of activities may find the design narrow.
What is Marginal act?
After devastating waves destroy much of a metropolis, a hidden mechanism in a theater freezes time in one district.
The player character, a theater illuminator, must find a way through the situation facing the trapped residents: they cannot leave, while time outside the district has stopped. Exploration centers on the district and a theater stage that represents its layout. The stage has six decoration segments, and players can place multiple items in each one. Decorations represent buildings on the map; a building appears in the direction matching its filled stage segment. Puzzles depend on activating and deactivating different buildings. The story and visual style are central, and the ending varies according to arguments associated with the game quarter.
